Time for a new backpack for me and this thread has been great. I've been using a random Ogio for a while. Actually three of them that were free logo'd corporate wear. The shoulder straps wear out after a few months and then it's on to the next one. My last one is finally wearing out and it's time for a new one.

My purchase: eBags TLS Professional Slim Laptop Backpack

In short I'm not keeping it:
-Weighs well over 3 pounds
-Can't fit that much in it for being big (1400 cubic inches -- yet heavier & same physical size as much larger capacity bags)
-Laptop compartment would need an extra sleeve to protect any normal sized machine
-Wacky zipper design made it hard to get into the pockets

I rather liked the looks, orange interior and side carry handles / passthrough. If it were a convertible to a briefcase I might just keep it.

Now back to the quest for a bag that can take 1-2 laptops, 1-2 tablets, bose headphones and assorted junk depending on whether I am home or traveling (dongles, chargers, everyday med kit, travel bits, gym clothes). And of course, not cost an arm or leg. The Tom Bihn Brain Bag seems perfect for me, but the price to get that plus organizing features is too rich.

Any recommendations for someone who is too cheap for Tom Bihn but wants something decent & mid-large size? North Face Surge II seems ok but also heavy. I don't like the zippers much, either. I'm somewhat drawn to an el-cheapo Case Logic 17" design. My budget is about $100. Ideally below, but I can go up for something nice. I just prefer not to hit the $200+ range (where Tom Bihn + accessories is).
