I use this as my packable duffle (store it in my luggage, use it as a checked bag if I need a bit of space when coming home).

I do not think it is study enough to be a carryon you use frequently. The durability doesn't seem to be there. Granted, mine has survived being checked maybe 10 times or so, but I would never consider swapping out my weekly boarding tote or roll aboard with it. The fabric doesn't feel the strongest and the stitching would end up giving out pretty quickly.
