You can checkout Blue Jenny Phones on Amazon. They are Unlocked Quadband GSM phones that take a regular SIM Card. We used it in Europe and only paid $25 for them. If you don't want an expensive phone these are great phones and they are easy to use.
I just got a BLU. Haven't thrown a SIM in it yet, but so far, I'm pleased. I just wish I grabbed something w/ a full keyboard. Oh well.
Question: is your number the same regardless of which SIM you put in? Phrased differently: are numbers phone specific?
