Singapore A330 Has Difficulty Getting Off the Ground and Flying Safely, Wasps Blamed

The A330 arrived at its designated gate at the Brisbane airport at 9:49AM, made a quick turn around, and was headed back down the runway at 11:52AM. A first takeoff attempt was aborted after instruments onboard reported that the aircraft was traveling down the runway far too slowly for it to successfully take off. The plane returned to the gate for inspection, but no problems were found. The plane made a second takeoff attempt, was successful, but soon after made an emergency landing since the pilot was again worried about the airspeed data.

A second inspection found that wasps had gunked up the captain's probe by building a nest using sand and mud while the other two probes were clear of any obstructions.
