For such a cosmopolitan, multi-ethnic city, I found Hong Kong to be a nightmare for dining solo. All the restaurants seemed to cater to families save for the most absurdly expensive fine dining. If I did find some accessible local food, it would invariably be baffling to consume (one place seemed to serve nothing but rice noodle rolls, another had soups hotter than hell itself, another with char siu buns full of bone shards.)
Needless to say, by day 5, I snuck over to a McDonald's just for a hassle-free hamburger and fries. I hate myself.
