The HNL routes are getting hit with many change of gauge flights and delays for a while now. My last flight had a change of equipment which created a 50 seat oversell. This was compounded by a cancelled flight the night before due to pilots timing out...because of delays.
When I spoke to the agents in HNL to see if they had any insight into what's going on lately, they had no clue. Their only comment was that it is to the point where it is very embarrassing. They don't know what to tell people any longer.
I'm just expecting plenty of bumps as long as this continues and am planning accordingly, allowing extra time in my schedule and not scheduling meetings on day of arrival.
I am. But the 753 is not the 764. Would not have booked the 753, let alone burned the RPU. Agree they probably won't give me the instrument back, but perhaps 5-10k miles?
In any event, I recognize the loss of a lie-flat seat as a 1st world problem.
But this airline feels like it's on the verge of falling apart. I've been encountering issues - mx, etc. - on about 50% of my flights the last three months or so.
