Smile Take snowblades wo paying for ski carriage

So i booked FR Ryanair for weekend ski break and wanted to take my skis, but they wanted £50 each was for ski carriage plus £40 for a standard bag for my boots. The flight was <£70 rt inc all charges so there was no way I was paying £140 to take skis.

As well as my skis, i have a pair of snowblades which although make me look like a teenager, are good enough for a weekend on snow. They are 100cm long and i figured i should be able to get them into a normal suitcase but really struggled. Eventually i found the Gelert Expedition 120lt bag which at 92cm long fitted them (slightly tilted upwards), my skis boots and luggage. So i took them all for £40 (tbh i needed a normal bag anyhow).

Hopefully this is useful for someone wanting to go skiing without paying for the ski carriage!
