Also, I've been doing a bit more research - It seems that US has some kind of hub at LGA with hourly service to both BOS and PHL and connecting flights through that hub are roughly the same price as direct flights between PHL and BOS. That makes it a bit more attractive, as I'd at least earn a mid-tier status level on US/AA.
You can find a list of JetBlue (B6) flights that can earn mileage on AA at
www.aa.com. Look in the section on earning miles on partner airlines (though B6 is not a member of oneworld). In general, flights to or from BOS or JFK are eligible, while other flights are not. As a side point, B6 also has some attractive policies: no charge for the first checked bag; no charge to take the immediately preceding one's scheduled flight, provided that space is available
