Be sure that they can keep it to themselves though. If word gets out you may have more friends looking to share in your mileage giveaway bonanza.

I've never been in a position to have enough miles to just take a friend along (although I guess the wife counts) but a few times have sent a friend who needs to fly home or something on an award and told them not to worry about it.
