British airways said ticket is confirm but the money came back into my account!

I made an avios booking for HKG-EDI in December and my credit card still hasn't been charged.

British Airways usually reserve payment when making the booking as an offline of "not present" transaction and then the back-office would follow this up by processing the actual payment.

I know that it's been two weeks from my initial booking and my credit card still hasn't been charged.

On speaking to a BA customer services person, they confirmed that I'm still in the queue and the credit card would be charged when they are ready.

At present there's a backlog of manual credit card transactions to process and since my flight isn't until the end of the year, it's not going to be processed within the next few days.

I don't have a flight reference number: but do have a booking reference and now 20,000 avios credit for the delay.

Customer relations are aware of my booking and it's all confirmed - I just have to wait for my credit card to be charged.

It is slightly disconcerting having a flight but no number - but from my side I have a customer relations number if my booking is cancelled due to non-payment (not collecting the payment).

I reserved two first class flights from HKG so am keen not to give up these seats.


Hopefully that it will be processed soon - please let us know how you get on.
