Seems to be a few folks stating that it will have cost BA a bundle to put pax on CX; is that really the case?

Similar event couple of weeks back happened to my son, an invol reroute from BA flights to CX ones. The flights on CX are showing as redemption booking. Incidentally BA still have not credited TP's or Avios, despite being reminded!
