So I am getting married in Houston mid 10/17/14 and contemplating a 2 week Honeymoon to Hawaii or Mexico. My flight would be.

IAH/HNL (stop would be ok in between)

HNL/PHL (stop ok in between)

Currently I have 120K United Miles and should have another 40K coming over the next 3 months.

I have read a ton of posts here and my head is spinning with all the different type of class flights and planes such as Y, U, E+, F, etc. 777-DF, etc.

What do you think my best bet would be to use my Miles to at least purchase one First Class Award. I have looked everyday and only see First Class Tickets for 40K each way with a stop over in LAX or PHX then Economy to Hawaii.

There is zip under 90K each way per person First Class.

Can anyone help lay out my options? Is it worth it purchasing Economy Tickets and using points to upgrade?

In contrast its about a 2.5 hour flight to Puerta Vallerta 70K total economy rounh trip

I am really starting to pull together an amazing Honeymoon and figure 8-12K in Mexico over two weeks would give us an insanely awesome trip. Think that is enough for upscale in Hawaii for two weeks?
