Flew 773 LHR-LAX in Dec on 773 in 2G. Did not find it noisy at all. Obviously a lot of flight you have Bose headset on but whilst I slept I found it a very pleasant environment.
Maybe it is the frequency of the engines. I find Airbus 330's very noisy with the engines sounding like giant Lawn Mowers, it is the grating frequency of that noise rather than the volume.

I adored the new coffee machines in December. Are these expresso machines in all the plane or just premium cabins or God forbid just first?

Only real disappointment was the IFE. The screen is great and the in flight map looks really crisp but the movies look like tired old VGA quality and I tried plugging my PVR through RCA's and the quality was awful. AA need to upgrade to the USB Video player software which can be fitted to these units. It is a shame a lot of airlines have installed 2010's HD screens and left the content quality back in the 1960's with fuzzy low definition NTSC usually well out of phase.
