I'm not sure why the thought process always follows that it's just too easy to become a GCH, rather than thinking that T5 and its lounges are just too small. Let's remember that LHR is incredibly busy, and it's not just a BA fortress hub, it's a oneworld fortress hub. It's always going to be busy, and it's not going to become a magical tranquil garden by raising the barrier by 500TP.

And where would all those displaced ex-GCH go spend their time? What would happen there? GC is often also heaving.
Last time I flew F the CCR was heaving too. Why not dispatch those GGL riffraff to GF?
There's not even generally enough seats in T5 for other mere mortals to pass their time.
No, the solution is not simply to tweak the level for Gold, but for BA (or HAL) to invest more as their income increases.
That's another way of looking at it. The facilities for the airport are too small. I don't know why (I'm sure someone will tell me) T5B GC doesn't have a F section or lounge. The overwhelming majority of LH flights depart from the satellite terminals, so why not move some of your pax there earlier on? I'm sure space could be found in T5C as well.
