The BAEC is a big club (7 million?) so I'm sure there are plenty of Gold Members about.
However the lounge is open to a variety of other flyers so how do you know they are all gold?

I believe One World equivalents, First Class pax, Gold Guests and pax on the same booking as a Gold member are all entitled to enter?
BAEC is a comparatively small club. Look at any of the US carriers, M&M, etc. 7m members is puny. I think I read somewhere here that there are something like 30,000 GCH / 60,000 SCH. If those numbers are correct, then I'm surprised to see so many there in recent visits.

GF is essentially a OWE lounge. Full stop. If you are flying BA F, you are in the CCR. Since no other airlines offering F depart from LHR T5, GF occupants must be (unless they downgrade themselves) OWE/GCH.
