CBC was reporting last night that a few East Coast Senators (political affiliation unimportant) were spending $12k to $16k over 6 weeks last fall on travel expenses. They were, of course, unclear whether that was typical of their habits over a year, but that is an extraordinary amount to spend for travel between YOW and the East Coast given that a Latitude flight pass can be purchased for $4195 per month, or a Business Class flight pass for $7119 per month. Which tells me they are not flying on flight passes, and not planning their travel worth a hoot--and given they know the Senate sitting schedule weeks in advance, there really is no excuse.
I don't think debating whether they should be in J or not is worthwhile or appropriate here--just pointing out that your premise that they are using FPs or behaving in a relatively sensible way just doesn't hold up under scrutiny. Whenever specific individual spending patters are exposed, they invariably fail.
And yes I think you can have hard working liars.
