I'm sure there is a station chief who as you suggest may or may not be there, but there were no AA badges to be seen, at arrival gate, transfer, check in or departure gate. We were there in November and did not see any then either. Where do you think a customer might find or locate them if some service was needed?
Jumping straight to a station "chief" is skipping several levels. The other employees are there to provide needed services, and will call the appropriate party if one is needed.
