Are there any restrictions or disadvantages when using miles and/or point?

Most redemption flights do not count towards earning status. Multiple 1st Class seats for travel with others can be hard to book. Compulsive reading and posting here, mile and point addiction, and dead house plants may or may not be disadvantages.

I was reading an article online about this and it stated when using freq. fliers miles or points it best to book as soon as possible because some airlines seats on miles/points allows approximately 10% per flight. How true is this?

Others answered. For domestic economy seats, if you live near an airport Southwest flys to, are very available except for holidays or times when flights sell out. Even if you had to drive to Buffalo their program is worth checking out (I'm from up state NY). Very easy and straight forward, so a good way to begin. If you travel for Business fairly often other programs might be better. Home airport and travel goals/needs/wants are helpful.

I know there are advantages like you get to save money but is there things that isn't so great about freq. fliers miles or reward points?

It can become a trade, you pay with time and a few points of your credit score (assuming you will open credit cards to get bonus offers for easy points/miles) for the miles and maybe spend a little extra to get the bonus offers (if you earn via butt in the seat you also are paying with time).

Thanks

Please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section.
Home airport?
Where you want to go?
Economy, Business, or First?

Solo or with someone? Do you need to pay for/earn their flights too?

How often do you travel for work?

How often would you want to fly on points?
