Never been there as a gold but they treat platinum like royalty at JW Shanghai. Not only was I upgraded to a corner room on the 53rd elite floor (with welcome letter and snacks waiting), the lady who checked me in personally walked me to my room. I don't think they get a lot of platinums in Shanghai.
