My thoughts are based around not putting your eggs all in one basket and thinking A380 is the only way to do the heavy lifting, neither Airbus nor Boeing are brilliant at everything. I have no idea what the capital outlay for a 747-8 versus a 380 is but I wonder what the delta is. Agreed re the running costs though - it would be interesting to see the comparison between running jets of similar configuration 2 engine versus 4 and the 380 against a 747.
As for the 380 itself, such an ugly aeroplane, the thought of being stuck on that for 10+ hours fills me with dread, enough to take QR to JNB via DOH rather than the 380 service!
Are you saying you won't fly on an A380 because of how it looks on the outside?
