They can shop around to various ham sandwich providers to find the lowest cost provider. If they decide that leaving one slice of tomato off of the sandwich would save them boatloads of pennies, then they can.
It is a different matter for them to say "our complementary gin is going to again be Tanqueray" or "we are returning Bailey's to our complementary selections." That is a more black and white matter than the subjective definition of what constitutes a proper ham sandwich.
Also, with the food, they can determine the limited time periods during the day when they decide to make "upgraded" food available. Drinks they have to keep available all day long.
So, I suggest that the food appears to be a blue smoke and mirrors diversion.
With customers like you folks, I wonder why they keep trying at all...
This whole conversation has degenerated into the same three or four posters who complain about everything-now complaining that an actual enhancement "just isn't good enough for them".
Also, this rather irrational preoccupation with free booze is a bit unsettling...
