So it looks like each airline has their own dimensional limit for carry-on luggage except for BA who matches the IATA standard.
Funny - I was just doing the same search as you and just discovered the same info as posted above. I guess I always just assumed that the IATA 'standard' was just that. It seems, though, that it is nt.

Couple that with the points made above that even UA's own rules seem inconsistent and I'm really not sure what to say other than it's going to be a mess. My next UA flight is scheduled for March 1 and my bag fits the sizer...
