If you want to see a particularly 'interesting' sequence of Balance Adjustments try the following, as I did recently:
* Do a return trip where the outbound leg is the day before your membership year expires and the return is the day after
* Upgrade the outbound, thus causing it - or in this case one of the other flights in the itinerary - to initially credit 0TP and Avios
* Ask nicely for a 2-week extension to your membership year when you realise that the return flights will just get you to gold level
* But first, of course, you need to get those mis-credited flights to be properly credited
My transaction listing now shows 9 separate adjustments relating to this sequence of events, some positive, some negative, some labelled 'Balance Adjustment' and some just labelled 'Adjustment.' There were more at one point but they seem to have been erased from the record.
I think these are just the external evidence of someone having to wrestle with an IT system that isn't ideal and I'm very grateful to whoever put in the time to finally make it right. I did double-check to make sure that the eventual total and lifetime total was correct - it was. Which means that some of those adjustments are different from other adjustments.
