My group of four adults will arrive in Paris by train, stay for a week, and then go to Normandy/Brittany.

I have no interest in renting a car while in Paris, of course, but when we leave for Normandy I'm debating on whether to rent a car in central Paris (Gare de l'Est) or take the train to Caen and rent it there.

I've never rented a car in France before, but the pros/cons of renting in Paris, as I understand them, are seeing a bit more of France by car and saving maybe $50 compared to 4 train tickets vs. the hassle of picking up the car and driving thru central Paris.

I'll be dropping off the car in Nantes fwiw.

Is there anything else I should consider? Advice?
