If you fly one but not both segments, you forfeit any remaining funds (even on business select).

Even if you have the gate agent cancel your connection or delete your boarding pass, you forfeit any remaining funds. not even a security fee remains!

Worse yet, you will not receive any rapid reward points even though you flew the first segment.

Note: if you get "lost" at the intermediary airport and MISS the connection and show up at the gate agent, at their DISCRETION they may let you stand by for the next flight at no charge. This is not a written rule though so they don't have to do so.
