Thoughts on Nokia 521 Windows 8 Phone

I was wondering what are your thoughts on the Nokia 521 Windows 8 Phone. I know its an entry level phone but it does what I need it to do. I love the offline GPS Maps as well as the Nokia Apps it comes with.

It also has the Quadband GSM network and it can be unlocked and used with a MicroSim Card.

The reviews online looked good but I wanted to hear your opinions about the phone.

I have MetroPCS and they use the TMobile towers for the GSM network. While this phone is a 4G phone without LTE, Front Facing Camera NFC it still looks like a great phone for the price.

I can get it for $50 per phone with instant rebate and then an additional $20 giftcard with the Metro Rebate on the $40 GSM plan with 500 MB of Data, Unlimited Calling, Texting, Internet(after I use 500MB which I rarely do it throttles it down but its not all that slow and plus I use WiFi). It also has WiFi Calling as well.

I would like to hear your experiences with the HERE Maps. They say you need to purchase the International Maps but I was wondering if I use an app like Waze with their offline support would that be good or is it better just to buy the HERE Maps?

I checked out the Windwos App store and it has most of the apps I was using with my Android. We use Windows PC's at home so it was a no brainer to go with a Windows 8 phone.

Nokia has been around for many years and is known for their strong antennas for reception and their well-built phones so for the price it seems like I would be getting a great value for the money.

I am not a heavy gamer but use apps such as TuneIN Radio, FlyerTalk, airline mobile apps as well as other productivity apps hence why I'm not really after a faster processor. If I use any heavy apps it would be done on my laptop or desktop anyways. So do you think for the specs its a great phone?
