The cruise ships are subject to inspection by port immigration and customs officials even if sailing within the EU. Our last Med cruise started in Barcelona and stayed within the EU for 13 of the 14 days. Our passports were obviously inspected in at least two ports as they were stamped in Naples, Italy and Piraeus, Greece.
