I will explain:

Last August, I flew HKG - AKL. Apparently, NZ was filming its service procedures in BusinessPremier and an official announcement was made about it. However, the cabin crew, despite knowing that they were being filmed, did not seem to be concerned at all and while their actions on camera were fine, there was nothing remarkable about them. Off camera though, they were vicious creatures. For instance, I politely asked the male FA working on my side of the aisle if I could get a menu from Economy hoping that they would have pasta or something that I would actually enjoy eating and he just rudely told me: "I don't have time now, what you are vegetarian or something? Why didn't you order a special meal?!?!?!?!?" They took nearly 4 hours to complete what I thought was a rather simple dinner service and then completely disappeared until breakfast, which they rushed and the breaks/pastries were served ice cold.

Just last month, I once again flew HKG - AKL and got stuck with this same cabin crew. This time, I found lots of hairs in my seat and I politely asked the crew for some disinfectant wipes. They rolled their eyes at me though they did eventually managed to bring me some. Then, I noticed that my duvet had huge blood-like stains and I politely asked to have a different one. The male FA whom I had had on this same flight in August shouted at me: "I'm not a cleaner. It isn't my fault you don't like your duvet... I wasn't the one who put it on your seat." Then, I could hear him talking with his fellow FAs in the galley about what a demanding customer I am.

Am I expecting too much? I mean, when I watch NZ's commercials, I see friendly, energetic cabin crews who seem to look after passengers from the heart, but yet, I never get these great crews.
And yet people continue to be sucked in by the ad speak and continue flying with them. Sure takes a while for the penny to drop.
