With Global Entry, PreCheck, and an early arriving flight, 1h34 is more than enough as you've proven.

Without Global Entry (especially if you're using the non-citizen lines), no PreCheck, and a late arriving flight there's a real chance you wouldn't have made it (depending on other arrivals around the same time).

There's no single answer to questions like this - it's always down to your exact details, and just a little bit of luck...
