SIN-HKG rt S$288 a.i. using HSBC cc

SIN-HKG-SIN for S$288 all included but ticket must be purchased using HSBC creditcard that is a Singapore issued.

Fine and dandy... however, on the payment page, one sees these two notices..

..If a transaction is successfully made with ‘Verified by Visa’, ‘MasterCard® SecureCode™’ or'American Express SafeKey®' , the cardholder will not be required to present the physical card used for verification.
and yet, it also states..
..Please note that you will have to provide your credit card to be eligible for this fare.
Then under T & C, it also states :
..Fares are applicable for HSBC credit card holders only. Tickets must be paif using SG-issued HSBC credit card. Cardholder need not be the traveller.
(see their spelling error on 'paid' too)

So what exactly do they mean by this... especially when someone is buying the ticket for me?

And then the acceptance and conditions to the ticket info contradicts each other...

..Have the physical credit card originally used for the purchase presented by the cardholder for verification at check-in, OR at the nearest Cathay Pacific Ticketing Office prior to the flight departure. The cardholder does not need to book and travel. If a transaction is successfully made with "Verified by Visa", "MasterCard® SecureCode™" or " American Express SafeKey®", the cardholder will not be required to present the physical card used for verification.

I understand that if the cardholder or virtual card user fails to present the physical card originally used for booking transaction, the carrier reserves the right to -
Deny boarding, or
Collect a guarantee payment (in cash or from a new credit card).
This is so typical of HK Chinese trying to word English sentences properly but then trying to cover what they want to say but it makes everything worse. Example - I've been fighting with PCCW on their ridiculous wording for prepaid data services. But that's another story..
