Staying here right now. Award stay. Used SNA's to upgrade to a Fantastic Suite. I wish I didn't as there were several FS available upon check-in, hehe....I was trying my luck to get further UG'ed to a WOW suite, but they were all taken
The FS is just one big room BTW. Not a traditional suite, wish separate living room. However, it is airy. I am staying here alone so the open bathroom does not bother me. But I would be very bothered if I were staying with my mother, of even my BF. I prefer the bathroom to be a private matter

I was aware of this prior to booking this hotel. There is some kind of a lounger in the room, but you can not sit on it, you have to LAY down on it. The strangest thing I have ever seen in a room. It is not comfortable, I would prefer the room to have a lounger or a normal sofa. The W bed is very comfortable.
Being platinum for many years now, this was my very first stay at a W Hotel....and I must say while it's nice, it it not my cup of tea. I prefer the good, old fashioned Westins and Sheratons and Le Meridiens, and even the Four Points

They are really trying to be so hip, almost too hip.
Thing about W is that it looks best during the night. In the daytime it all looks little bit simple and cheap....at night there is lots of cool lights and colours. It is dark everywhere, the room is dark as well - too dark for my taste.
The service is good though, staff is attentive and friendly. In fact, I find every single member of the staff to be very pleasant. They are not uptight at all

Joking and doing small talk all the time.
The restaurant and the three bars are nice as well. The girls working here are hot (I am gay, unfortunately). The drinks are strong and inexpensive (I am from Norway, hehe). At 10 CAD you'll get a mojito, and at 5 CAD you'll get a beer at Wunderbar.
The location is good, St. Cath and Old Montreal is easily walkable. There is a small gym in the basement, but there is no swimming pool, I wish there was one.
All in all a nice hotel. But I do not think I will return to any W. It is just not my cup of tea. I prefer the traditional S/WS/LeM/FP, with an in-room coffeemaker, club lounge, enough light, private bathroom, comfortable sofa and dull bar with muted music, hehe. Even some Le Meridiens are somewhat similar to the W's, like LeM in Bangkok - I find the LeM's to be nicer and more comfortable. At the age of 31 I am feeling very old here at the W, and the clientele here seems to be way older than me - I would guess most people here right now is 50+.
