MSP 9-12 inches snow. blizzard conditions but no advisory!!!!

I could not physically make it to the airport this morning in time for my 6 am flight. 15 of 16 taxis were stuck!!!! My car also stuck in the driveway which i tried when my scheduled taxi company could not get any drivers to my location (10-15 minutes drive from the airport).

As a result I called American and told them I couldn't make it but No advisory issued even though the weather channel issued a winter storm advisory for the area!!!! I had to pay almost 500 bucks extra to switch to a later connecting flight thru DFW (currently in Admirals club in DFW) when I finally got a taxi to show up after 7:30 a.m.

At what point does American issue an 'advisory'???

I tried everything possible to make it to the airport on time and yet I get penalized by American for not making the flight and letting them know.

Weather happens but I do not understand how the airline with a weather channel Winter storm advisory for the area doesn't as a courtesy issue an advisory.

How would anyone else feel? I don't think I'm wrong in being angry at this.
