Does anyone know why Avios and AAdvantage availability is inconsistent for AA flights?

With Avios, I see plenty of availability in First for JFK-LAX on Dec 20, Dec 21. On AAdvantage, I would see nothing, not even in business class for the direct flight while I see most flights that day have 1 J or F seat open.
