My boarding pass has my AA number on it, but I have my BA Gold card with me. My normal procedure is to hand over both boarding pass and BA Gold card and the agent types in the BA number and confirms its valid and voila, I'm allowed in the First class lounge.
I've done this in the Galleries First in LHR T5 six times, The Wing in HKG, and the Qantas First lounge in SYD. No problems ever.
Today the lounge agent refused and said the rules were that I had to be crediting the miles to the account to get the lounge privileges. Now, if he is right that would mean that dozens of other agents were wrong, and based on my reading of the lounge access rules there is no mention at all about what number is on the boarding pass.
Has this happened to anybody else? Is this a new rule change? Or, as I suspect, did the agent not know what he was talking about? On an aside, he also refused to call his supervisor or show me the rule that he was referring to, and when I showed him the BA website rules he said that wasn't his rules.
thanks
Very poor show. Please complain to BA about this, this should never happen. It is so frustrating when staff decide to make up their own interpretation of the rules.
