Maldives points sounds like an excellent use, but are you burning miles between RDU and MCO? That would seem excessive to me, but again if one has unlimited mileage currency I guess it is a wash. I've never found domestic mileage burns (air or hotel) to ever work well given the far superior economics of long haul premium travel.

Let us know if Maldives is worth it. Haven't considered, but remain willing.

Sorry I did not mean to come across as testy on Orlando, really just making a point. And sorry to take over this thread, but it's another great example whereby St Regis Bali is a beautiful, aspirational property, but a 9 year old kid is probably going to be more impressed by the Despicable Me suite in the Portofino hotel @ Universal. Yes RDU-MCO is going to be points either DL or WN. Obviously WN has no option for redeeming for international, and I have ways and means of generating a lot of DL points. I have used SPG points to stay at The Swan in Disney and it was also a fantastic vacation. It is no better use of points if you are getting some theoretical higher cash value but not doing the things that your family actually loves.

This will be our fourth Madlives trip. On our first trip we were supposed to spend 5 nights in Alila Villas Maldives (now Park Hyatt) followed by five nights at this property - St Regis Bali. But we were having such an amazing time in Alila we canceled the Bali bit and just stuck with Maldives. Ironic. I would like to get to Bali at some point and this place would be top of my list.
