On that theme,
Stowage (no definitive article) is perhaps my favourite London street name.
At weekends, the City these days isn't quite the ghost town it was say twenty years ago. It's a good time to explore it though.
An interesting walk, if they fancy some contrasts, would be from Spitalfields (next to Liverpool Street station, on the edge of the City), visiting
Old Spitalfields Market (a covered market), then passing through the back streets and Petticoat Lane market (traditional street market, every day except Saturday), then up Whitechapel Road (a visit to
Tayyabs is recommended!). Alas a
tour of the Whitechapel Bell Foundry requires a touch of significant advance planning.
(Just to add, lest confusion is sown for those unfamiliar with the terminology- in the context of London, "City" with a capital C does have a specific context -
Wikipedia will explain.)
