You can tell the difference between a published & tour fare based on the deposit required for the package -- published fares are paid up front while consolidated only require a per person deposit.
For many of us, the MQD thresholds are so low that we'll qualify regardless -- it's MQM that counts.
Thanks for the info, especially about the difference in deposits. It's true that many easily make MQD or AMEX waivers and probably would be happy to take the savings in lieu of MQDs. If the particular package you are looking at appears to be a bulk/opaque/unpublished fare is there a way to ask for it to be replaced with a published fare on the same flights?
