I'm always amazed at the number of 1MM, 2MM (one time saw a 6MM) tags I see walking around. Are these folks doing weekly trips to Asia, or was there a time when MM was much more achievable? I only fly domestically and even though I've flown a LOT in the last 4-5 years, I'm just north of 1/2 way to 1MM.
I wouldn't go so far as to say its unachievable. If I kept the same pace on DL as I have been in recent years (not likely), I'd hit 1MM with them by the time I'm 34, and I don't fly a quarter as much as some people here, nor do I give DL all my business. Even the lowest MQM Diamond is going to hit 1MM in 8 years, which is not a long time relative to the length of a career. Changing or splitting loyalty probably stops there from being a lot more MM'ers than there already are.

That, and with premium fares earning a 50-100% MQM bonus... if you're able to spend big, either on your dime or somebody else's, you'll get there in a hurry.
