Something I've learned doing this hobby of points collecting is points certainly don't accrue value the longer they're held. I've got a trip planned to Bali, and a bunch of SPG points. Is it the best "value" to use them at this resort? Hell no. Am I going to get to experience a hotel that there's no way I'd pay cash for? Absolutely!
And I'll earn my points back at the breakfast buffet
