I could stay at the HGI for 30k Hilton Honors points, while the DT would cost 40K. Yet the base cash price at the HGI is $30-40 more than the DT, using AARP discount.
Is the price difference fairly typical, or is it just a matter of location and specific properties? Thanks.
DT hotels vary so wildly in quality, I don't think there is any hard and fast ratio to compare prices with a brand like HGI.
DT hotels do not typically offer free breakfast unless you are HH Gold or Diamond, but certain rates may include it. If you have Gold or Diamond status, you can get free b-fast and wi-fi at either, as previously mentioned.
Both of these hotels are decent places to stay. If you are just looking to sleep before going to the airport, go with the cheapest one. Both have a restaurant open in the evenings. If you want to venture out and don't have a car, the DT is a far better choice as it is easy walking distance from the light rail.
