I suppose if you want to draw attention to this severance "gift", you could issue a 1099-MISC for the face value of the ticket. That would be semi-mean, but absolutely proper tax-wise. Note that 1099's are not normally required for amounts less than $600 AFAIK. That's what makes it semi-mean.
