I'm not aware of cases where you can get a change fee waived on non-refundable tickets as this isn't a benefit of status or the AMEX Plat card. Normally, those are only waived in cases of extreme weather such as a snowstorm and they issue a blanket waiver to do so or where there are issues with the flights, either the day of travel (mechanical delays, weather, etc requiring rebooking or rerouting) or due to a schedule change after you booked the ticket but in advance of the day of travel.

If you can provide more detail on the reasons you need to change we may be able to be more specific, but as a general rule you don't see change fees waived that much.
