If you're chasing TPs and/or Avios, make sure you check out the LHR-LAX-SFO fare (use the multi-city option) against LHR-SFO direct, it's often cheaper, nets more TPs and Avios, allows a free stopover in Los Angeles, and gives the opportunity of the A380 too.
