OK, it's a skiing helmet, but I figured I'd broaden the net a bit....

So I'm off for a weekend skiing, flying BA, and I reckon I can manage with carry on bags only. However my ski helmet won't go in the carry on bag.

Does anyone have any experience of taking this sort of thing as their second carryon item?
