Successful OneUp bid:
Flight: NZ103, 2 pax, B777-200
From-to: AKL-SYD
Date: 8/02/14
Booked Class: Works (S)
Bid: NZ$ 200 + 10% uplift
Indication: Weak (right at the bottom of the scale)
Airpoints: Silver
Result: Accepted 5 days out for Business Class (Monday afternoon for Saturday flight)
Couple of interesting points about this:
1. I received the same e-mail as others have recently reported, about two weeks prior, telling me that I had placed a low bid but (lucky me!) there was still time to increase it. I had paid for Works and a preferred seat in the PE cabin, so it was not worth any more than $200 to me.
2. I had read previously that preferred seats were not refunded on successful OneUps, but instead taken into account with the bid. After getting the upgrade, I called the call centre and was able to transfer the value of the preferred seat to the return flight, and thus select a preferred seat (albeit nothing special on an A320!). This makes me wonder whether it is really taken into account.
