Old. Over 40?? Just returned from south island and agree with your assessment. Fly back from Milford sound is a good use of ti me and gives a different perspective from the air. Doubtful is even better quiet and beautiful. Franz Josef and ice hiking or Mt Cook and rafting on the tasman glacier both terrific and unique experiences for all ages.. even those a lot past 40.
