Using AA miles would be cheaper if the OP can find award space on non-BA flights. 80K AA miles all-in (20K+20K+20K+20K) with stopovers in LON on the outbound, and in ORD on the return. The OP would have to connect (or stopover) somewhere in Europe on the return. Note, however, that AA will charge a $75 close-in award booking fee.
Is there a way to fly LON-KTM avoiding BA and without taking a connection outside of Europe/Indian Subcontinent? I don't believe connection in Middle East or Asia is allowed between Europe and Indian Subcontinent using AA miles.
