Liquidating large stacks of $100 or $200 VGCs is time-consuming, a pain in the butt and can raise flags all over the place. For a small play, it may be OK but not in volume.
2) The denominations are large, yet are not easily liquidated. Amex GCs can be bought for $3,000 at no fee after portals, yet it is a pain to liquidate. No BB or MOs with these. Via AP, you are looking at 3 months to liquidate one. No thanks. Or, I could go out and buy VGCs with the AGC, yet now I'm paying fees again.
If there is a no-fee (after portals) GC > $200 that is easily liquidated, THEN I think its worth it.
Once again, get a SERVE account. You can liquidate these free GC at CVS by loading your serve account with them. 1k a day .... have a few SERVE cards and do all 5k in one day :-)
