Mattress running for 36 nights, does it make sense?

So to keep my Platinum status for another year (work travel is down for the year) how crazy would it be to qualify by spending around $2000 for 36 qualifying nights (12*3)? This would generate about 8k points in folio spend, another 4k points for rooms, 15k + 6k for the current promotions and perhaps about 3% more cash back. A total of around 33k *points. Not really a great value per point.

How many would consider doing this? Would you do it now or just wait until the end of the year making the reservation and then whittling it down as you needed less nights (hopefully) by the end of the year? Would SPG have an issue with this as long as I was in the room to check-in? Do you think the property would care? Is there any cheaper way to do this? Am I crazy?
