On the regular 77W (as used on AC1/2) there are three distinct Y cabins; 1: Rows 18-25; 2: Rows 30-43; and 3: Rows 50-63. Cabin 3 could easily be designated as sleeping while cabins 1 & 2 have open shades. Cabin 2 could be variable depending upon demands.
I never made any suggestion regarding the J seats!
FYI, for what it's worth, almost all my travels in J are either AE reward flights or eUpgrades. And, if I ever do pay for J it's to better guarentee that I sleep to be better prepped for my business upon arrival.
But, let me ask you? If you were in a hotel and the guest in the room next to your room was being loud so as to disturb you from sleeping would this bother you? I mean maybe he doesn't like to sleep (he looks out the window all night) or can't sleep in hotels (like you suggested some can't sleep on planes). Therefore, he can do what he wants and keep you awake right? I am being facetious but I think it's a somewhat similar scenario.
